How the Tonnage Calculator Works
Choose a Mode: Use Basic for a quick estimate (enter area + depth) or Advanced to enter length, width, and depth for more detailed control.
Select Material: Choose from a predefined list of common materials, each with a default unit weight. You can also select "Enter a custom unit weight" to input your own.
Enter Dimensions: Input the dimensions of the area you need to fill. In Advanced mode, you can enter length, width, and depth. In Basic mode, you just enter area and depth. You can use various Imperial and Metric units.
Adjust Unit Weight: If you've selected a custom material, or simply need to fine-tune your calculations, you can adjust the unit weight of the material and choose your preferred unit (e.g., kg/m³, lb/cu ft).
Get Results: The calculator automatically determines the volume and total tonnage required based on your inputs.
